Lucia Patterson Able, in Memory

My dad’s oldest sister died this week at 82. She was so good to us kids when we were children, and pleasant and loving after we were adults, too. For several years she has been cared for in an Alzheimer’s unit in a nursing home. Her own carreer was in nursing. Her smile and liquid voice were a necessary part of celebrations at Christmas and birthdays, the extended family becoming more right when her car pulled into the driveway. I’m grateful for her life and its peaceful end.
