A Blog Moment.2

It was a meeting of three blog writers and one spouse (who is a faithful reader of all three). Kimberlee, on an epic, continent-spanning trip away from Atqasuk, Alaska, had come to a conference in Charlotte. She and I got together on Friday, meeting in person for the first time in our two-and-a-half-year friendship. On Satruday, Bryan and Laurie met up with her, spending the day making their good friendship face-to-face, too.

On Sunday, June 29, the three of them made the drive down into Lancaster County and came to my church for worship. During an afternoon of Mexican food, shameless puns, Balderdash, ice cream, and an overdose of O Brother, Where Art Thou reinactments, we laughed many gallons of mirth into the space around us.

The buggy side of balance exists! Here we are at Mariachis — all four of us — even though I’m only represented by a chin and eyebrow.

Here’s a better one of Laurie and Bryan.

Of the several photos Bryan took of Kimberlee’s and my side of the table, this one was least afflicted by facial contortions.

Cool thing, this internet, helping people find similar souls in distant places. The day felt like a small festival dedicated to the ideals that stand behind what we write.
